Pulled Pork

Meals

Ingredients

2.5 lbs boneless pork shoulder/butt (or loin)

2 liters root beer

16 oz BBQ sauce

hamburger buns (potato)

sharp cheddar cheese, sliced

Directions

Place the pork inside the crock pot. If it doesn’t fit, cut into halves or thirds until it fits. No extra space is needed.

Pour in root beer until the meat is fully submerged.

Cover and turn on Low for 7 hours.

Every 2 hours, remove the lid and stir the meat around. The bottom left will be the hottest part.

After 7 hours, stick two forks in the pork and try to shred it, it should start to come apart easily. If it pulls apart and is brown, it is done. Otherwise stir and repeat this step every hour until it is.

Drain the liquid from the crock pot, using oven mitts and a strainer.

Put the meat back in the crock pot.

Pull the meat apart using two forks.

Add BBQ sauce, start with roughly 12 oz. Taste it and try to decide if that’s enough, add more if needed.

Turn the crock pot on low for 15 minutes to heat back up.

Toast the buns in the toaster, use “bagel” setting with the cut side towards the middle.

Assemble the sandwich.
